Daniel Primack, PE Week Wire

Get more details about how the event works.

In a period of a few hours, you have the opportunity to pitch to top MBA students and VCs and also undergo condensed due diligence with each student team. Unlike venture fairs, where many attending VCs may not even see your pitch, let alone your business plan, at VCIC all of the VCs evaluate all of the entrepreneurs so that they can judge the students' performances.

"I highly recommend this competition."
Dana Mead, Kleiner Perkins

  Application for Presenting Entrepreneurs

Presenting at a VCIC requires a half-day commitment on a Friday. If chosen to present, you will submit a full business plan, present a 10-minute pitch to the entire group and participate in Q&A sessions with each team. There will also be a networking session with our panel of VC judges.

The selection committee is looking for entrepreneurs who are actively seeking institutional venture capital. If you are a student or part-time entrepreneur or are looking for an angel investor, VCIC is probably not a good fit for you.

How did you find out about VCIC?
No business plan, no chance. Due to the time constraints of VCIC, we will need a full business plan from you, including financials, after you are selected to present. Our students only have 24 hours to perform due diligence and get to a term sheet. This is almost impossible without a solid plan to jumpstart their efforts. Unlike when you usually first meet a VC, at VCIC the teams will have read and researched your plan thoroughly. It is more like the first through tenth meetings all happening at the same time. Think of it as three months of due diligence crammed into a half day.

Your chances of being selected are improved if you include a draft of your business plan, including financials, to an email to   (5MB max). Your draft plan will only be seen by VCIC organizers and will be kept in strict confidence. If you are selected to present at a VCIC event, you will have a chance to submit a finalized plan by April 14. At the event, students will sign a non-disclosure agreement before receiving your plan.

There are no fees to apply for or participate in VCIC.
